Different sailing rig on a sunfish...

They used to make the Super Sunfish. What qualities are you looking for?

I am looking to improve unwind performance and perhaps get a bit more speed maybe. But primarily upwind performance.

Switching from low-aspect ratio to high-aspect ratio will trade off downwind performance for upwind. I haven't done any serious study of this myself, but the Super Sunfish rig found balance using less sail area than the lateen rig. The Super also had a longer daggerboard more like today's racing daggerboard.

The Super Sunfish carries a lower (speed) Portsmouth rating.
